JAMES: Did you know that the North Star is
not the brightest star in the night sky?
DEAN: However, it is the most important star
in the sky.
DEAN: We're facing north any night this week
at around 9:30 p.m., where you should be able
to see the Big Dipper, the 4 stars that make
its cup and the 3 stars that make its handle.
JAMES: To find the North Star, take the two
stars at the end of the cup, and shoot an
arrow through them and that arrow will always
point to Polaris, aka the North Star.
JAMES: Since Polaris is directly above the
Earth's north pole, it s the only star which
remains stationary while all the other stars
slowly circle
around it.
DEAN: As the earth turns on its axis, all
the stars in the heavens would seem to move,
except one
Polaris.
That's why Polaris, the North Star is so important.
BOTH: Keep looking up!
