Turn around, bright eyes because there s A TOTAL
ECLIPSE OF THE MOON coming next week to the West

Coast on May 26! Here s what you need to know
The full eclipse will happen at exactly 11:11 UTC

or 4:11am Pacific time. Snap a pic of the
screen! Because of time zones Totality

will happen at different times depending on
your location. Hawaii will get a GREAT show,

but if you re east of the Mississippi
you ll only get a partial eclipse.

Total lunar eclipses happen because every
2.5 years the orbits align so the Earth

is exactly between the sun and the moon. When
that happens our planet s shadow or UMBRA falls

entirely across the face of the moon turning
it a shade of rusty pink for about 15 minutes.

That said, the full eclipse can take HOURS,
as the edges of our shadow or PENUMBRA slowly

overtakes the moon. So, hit the sky early
and enjoy the show and KEEP LOOKIN UP!
