My journey to becoming an artist is quite nontraditional. I didn't pursue art in higher education. I got a degree in communication and then I got a series of jobs that taught me skills that I decided to use. As a way to step into a lateral shift into artistry as my career. My name is Nancy XiƔoRong Valentine and I'm an artist from Underwood, Minnesota, and you are here to see my exhibition at the audacity to be Asian in rural America. We owe you no apologies. This artwork series was created with Chinese ink, yes, but the watercolor were activated by the water sourced from the lake that I live on because I care a lot about place and space and experience and ancestry. I think that anyone who creates and takes time to create or makes meaning out of creating is an artist. The Slice. From WDSE WRPT.
