The Beargrease has been around for about 40 years, and the race was started here in Duluth. Many of the people that helped start it are still somewhat involved or were involved in those early years. It's seen a lot of iterations of, you know, up and back and up one way, but it's important for us to kind of keep that history alive and keep the spirit of John Beargrease alive. The indigenous culture is really important to a lot of people in this area, and we try to honor John Beargrease, and there's still a lot of his, you know, family members, descendants that are involved in the race in some capacity, whether they're running it or volunteering. So it's really fun to kind of hear some of that history directly from them. The Slice, from WDSE WRPT.
