IT CAN REALLY BRING THAT

EXPOSURE STEADILY.

WHEN YOU'RE TAKING A PHOTOGRAPH

AT NIGHT, INSTANTLY YOU THINK,

OH, IT'S DARK, I BETTER TURN ON

THE FLASH.

THAT'S NOT THE WAY IT IS WHEN

YOU'RE PHOTOGRAPHING THE MOONBO

BECAUSE WHAT YOU'RE DOING IS

TAKING A PHOTOGRAPH OF LIGHT.

IF THAT'S A CANDLELIGHT, IF

THAT'S A REFLECTION, YOU'RE

TAKING A PHOTOGRAPH OF RAYS OF

LIGHT AS THEY COME THROUGH THE

BRANCHES EARLY IN THE MORNING.

ANY ARTIFICIAL LIGHT SOURCE IS

JUST GOING TO WASH IT OUT.

THE SAME THING WITH A FLASH ON

YOUR CAMERA.

IT'S GOING TO LEAVE YOU WITH A

PICTURE OF WHAT LOOKS LIKE FOG,

AND THAT'S THE MIST COMING OUT

OF THE PLUNGE BASIN OF THE

FALLS.

KEEP THE ISO OR THE FILM SPEED

USUALLY AT 400 ASA OR 640 ASA.

USUALLY, I CAN GET A 30-SECOND

EXPOSURE AT F4, F4-5, 5-6.

IT WILL CHANGE FROM TRIP TO

TRIP, DEPENDING ON HOW BRIGHT

THE MOON IS.

BUT IN THAT BALLPARK IS USUALLY

WHERE I STICK, AND I'VE GOTTEN

PRETTY GOOD RESULTS SO FAR.

NATURE PRESERVES HAVE WAYS WE

CAN ENJOY NATURE AT NIGHT ALL

THROUGH THE YEARS.

THERE ARE HIKES TO SEE NOCTURNA

BIRDS AND ANIMALS, STAR GAZING

AND EVEN MOONLIGHT CANOE TRIPS.

NIGHTTIME IS DEFINITELY THE

RIGHT TIME TO ENJOY KENTUCKY'S

NATURAL WONDERS.
