officials are monitoring water quality of the Ohio River following a barge accident near Louisville.
The Kentucky Energy and Environment Cabinet shared these pictures on Twitter today.
The agency said ten barges broke loose from a tugboat.
One of them carrying 1400 tons of methanol, was partially submerged near a dam.
The state said the nearest water intake is in Henderson, which is about 200 miles downstream.
Henderson water utility told KET it's aware of the situation and that it does not anticipate any major disruptions.
The company's general manager added that water on the Ohio River near Louisville typically takes about three days to reach Henderson.
