From the Macon Coliseum in Macon Center plex. That is the goal right there. The hardware in the girls triple-A championship. We have Laney coming in from Augusta out of region three undefeated at 28 and three overall and beat coming from Savannah down by 16 out of region 111 no in 26 and five. Here's how they got to this point in time. Let's start with Laney beating Westminster by 21, temple by 31. A rough game with Dawson County, who was one of the top teams in the state, beating them by six and the Dictator Bulldogs by 26 in the semifinals. They get beat today. Let's find out how Beach made it down by 16, beating central by 19 Banks County by 15, central by seven, and a very tough East haul team by nine. You see those games in the forties and the fifties. I'm John this is Shaun. We will be your partners for the afternoon in the evening. Thanks for accessing us however you are doing so. Other GPB TV GPB talk of the GPB sports app. Lainey always a bridesmaid 14 semifinals appearances for Lainey. They're going to try and get a title today and it's Alicia call you. Well this Lainey team, Jon is very, very special. They play a hard, they play smart, so much energy. I love the way they play defense now with Alicia Collier, leading scorer, one of the guys. We're going to be paying a lot of attention to that 16 points a game and the double double. Yeah, she's the leading team score. She's the emotional leader for this team. John both on the court and off the court. Unique senior leadership to win a championship. And on the flip side, it's jazz to Jacqueline Anderson, 16 points a game the Region Player of the year. We talk about senior leadership. She has the same pedigree as well. The mindset to lead her team leads them in scoring a lot of categories. But what she does, John, she's the heart and the hustle. She's the nucleus. She's the main reason why Beach is here today. Lady Bulldogs are going up against the Wildcats. And let's send it over to our history professor for this match up, Sam Crenshaw. What's the early word? I'll tell you what the decision from Laney coach Otis Smart. I visited him before the game. He's been chasing this state championship for a very long time. He said he tried to keep things as normal as possible before coming over here yesterday from Augusta. They went by Georgia Regents College, worked out in their gym to get used to some different type of sightlines before they came over. They're ready for this team to go to work. A lot of speed trapping defense in a matchup between two schools with great history predating 1967. A lot in all sports Beach and Laney, a classic matchup in this final today. Thank you very much Sam it dating back to the g I a let's take a look at our starting on it's brought to us by our friends at regions bank it's time to expect more. First up with Laney it is Jasmine Bartlett, Brianna Bonner, Gemma Bowman the Shay Benjamin and Aliyah Collier who we just showed you a little bit in the open. On the flip side, there is Otis Smart, Laney Wildcats head coach. They've been here 14 times to the semis two times in a championship appearance before today. They're chasing after that first GHC title lineup for Beach. They're starting five. Jacqueline Anderson Island Span, Louisiana, Washington Time, Annie Royal And today's The Hills You see the height there. Five, eight, five, seven, six one in the middle, six foot with royal and 511 for beach And the alarm comes back to the alma mater Obafemi Gordon was a part of Ronald Booker's group at Beach. Booker coached there for 35 years before retiring in 2013. Gordon played for varsity years under Booker graduated in 99, but Beach would wait until she was in college before they would win their only state championship in 2000. Let's take a look at the keys to the game brought to us by our friends at the Technical College System of Georgia. To learn more, earn more. What do you see with the Bulldogs? Hey, John, this beach team has to make shots. Land is going to come out with a lot of defensive pressure because of the pressures. Now you've got to match the energy that Layne is going to bring. A lot of things that Beach has to do. The got a chance to win it today. On the flip side, what's the smart card for Laney? Hey, the school's first. Everyone knows that from Laney. So the whole city of August is definitely supporting them. Because of that, you have to relax. Don't, don't. Except on the still up the pressure that is coming to you from the outside. And I know that you wanted to give a shout out to both sets of moms before we get the tip off here. Yeah, Coach Smart is talked about his family, some of the things they're struggling with. And so we've got a chance to hopefully get a chance to watch the game, enjoy it and know that he's with everybody. If get better back at home, shout out to the beach mom as well, because we know it's moms and dads that make it just as special. And in the high school years and getting ready to fight for a state championship or coach for a state championship, getting ready for the girls triple-A title game, it is Augusta. It is Savannah. Rematch of the old gig here on GPB. First attempt up by Lainey no good so Beach having to compete with the press off the top drive blocked Lane is going to come back with it Let's see how things will settle down. Obviously we're going to look at the first 4 minutes to see how these two squads chasing after those titles will adjust to the building. Left hand off the back of the rim. No good lane. You'll get a second chance to drive dish off the glass up and in. It is good to say Benjamin was the first to of the ball game. Yeah everyone talks about how good she can be John and she's so in the off the bat how aggressive she is going to be offensively he is beating the press baseline jumper blocked hands once again keep that pen working deflections deflections deflections Yeah one minute to the game John beats with L.A. with three deflections already Collier with two blocks into the paint looking for the spin move drop right hand deflected on the way up Laney coming out with it outlet drive off the glass too hard out of bounds and like we're coming the other way Good defense John is the key for both coaches. They understand in order to score it has to start with their defense. You see deflections, you see steals in this three quarter press right now has being really effective for Laney, who is chasing their first state title since 2000, leaning looking for their first in their GHC participation bucket up and in first two points on the board for beats and it goes to Diamond he royal each time a tough defense squaring up three missed everything beats will come down with the rebound and just sort it out pass to no one in particular intercepted and a foul on the way up I think you had one player looking in one direction the other player who was the intended target was looking down the floor. Here's a look. And that's the way Laney plays with it's a make a miss pass. You always have to be in the pressure mindset defensively. Nice deal. Got a chance to finish here at the free throw line call you a free throw open in nick zone. We're going to keep up with these deflections. Yeah you're not even 2 minutes into the first part of the game. You'll have six deflections by lane Senior co-captain It's the free throw Laney up 4 to 2 minutes in it's breaks it gets into their offensive set Baseline jumper Anderson off the rim no good second chance up no good But today Isaiah Hills will go to the line now the weak part of a Prince John is box out and rebounder because you have to rotate for the steal and if the shot goes up then the offensive player has a chance to go in and get and sneak in for the offensive rebound. You seen that the last two offers possessions here for beat column call your her first free throw good when you have as many as ten players participating. Same for beach you see a lot of substitutions a lot of high pressure action. It's Augusta and Savannah meet in Macon for a title play foul on the reach in and span island span picking up her first shot off the back of the rim. No good lady. You get a second chance you keep an eye on this stat as well as we go. Lenny is getting a lot of second chances. Early steps call offensive rebounds. John is a key on both teams. I don't think they're the best shooting teams from the perimeter outside the arc because his shot goes up. Everyone has to have a mindset to crash the offensive glass. He's breaking press, get off the foot and he'll come back off. The turnover in transition. Collier looking to drive left hand. No. Three beach players in there and they're going to come out with it. Anderson And quick passing by the Lady Bulldogs and bring it forward titled for 3 minutes gone first quarter world championship here for Macon Coliseum halfway through day three of 15 championships here on public broadcasting. Pleasure to bring all 15 of them to you out of control many fans want to foul didn't you get it beats will come back and run their offense Anderson double team with one nice bounce pass elbow jumper no nice look there for a short corner Nice pass John has got to finish that nice soft touch here 12 feet and see what Laney does. They come up on the halfway point here. The first long jumper missed everything, but Laney will get another opportunity pass into the paint. Collier, I heard the ball hit all the way from here. They call a foul on Louisiana, Washington and before the free throws we're going to take a break. 408 to go first quarter girls dribble championship early underway tied at fours come back to make an after that's on the great GPB stay with us. Don't Miss Cancer The Emperor of All Maladies. March 30 at 9 p.m. on the Great JB. Hey John. This go back to our kids for the game. We talked about making shots. It's important to make shots right now. Both teams are shooting under 13%, so better shooting. But the beautiful thing is, you know, there's a high amount, there are more rebounds and 1.6826. On the rebounding and it's 4 to 4 one point. So both teams got to do a better job of putting the ball in the basket. Both teams hitting only one of their first eight from the floor and we kind of expected this in the first part of the first just to get adjusted to where they are. Sam Crenshaw mentioned in the open that landing at the Georgia regents to get used to a bigger barn, one Elliott Collier now with three and you see teams do that, they'll go to larger high schools and go to colleges that they can find in situations and try to get adjusted to a situation like this here in Macon, playing in front of six or 7000 people off the free throw line, you'll get another opportunity making one of two nice pass inside. That's again, hands getting in the way of the basketball, getting to the hoop The elite gets another opportunity and that'll go up Rihanna Bonner for three Hey she started off the season John out was told by many as the defensive stopper on the team now she's the best three point shooter on the team that's she's the specialist for shooting from the outside on an averaging ten and a half points. Again let's take a look at Bonners Ferry. She's the one that ever Smart told us would do this. So your hands are ready. Nice step. Nice set. Great. Follow through. Swish, miss by beach ball, press off the Miss high arching pass but Laney will come down with it off the glass washed a little bit and another opportunity but we're going to call a foul as Jasmine Bartlett went up and John to tell the story. So for Laney eight beats for it's interesting with 319 left in the first quarter, John Laney has zero deflections. And I'm going to say it again, zero deflections Beats has nine basket good the foul is on diamond he royal first second Aaron Davis 24 White comes in to replace her Laney with the bucket now with a six point lead see what beach does here off the front of the rim no bodies inside beats ended up with a second chance and a third chance doesn't work. The rim Laney will come down with it beats can't by a bucket right now bounce pass behind now throw it up off the front of the rim No good and up you say Benjamin with the miss but she'll go to the line at the foul on Jacqueline Anderson That'll be her first team she this young freshman right here John everyone in the lane and community feel that she has a chance to be special. She's working out with William Avery now who played at Duke. So the investment is going into her. So and it shows that after 12 points a game, she's going she's going mentally more as a basketball player. She's got a bright future ahead of her and this team. She is going to use her to win more championships. I believe in the future, averaging under seven boards a game also. And Coach Ellis Smart said he was surprised with her play and she feels no evil. That says, quote, fears no evil. As a freshman Laney up by eight pressure getting the best defense right now Anderson with the dish off the glass up and in that'll count she needed that badly from Luciano Washington. Yeah I guess it impressed John when you get the ball in the middle of the paint on the court, you can always attack those fantastic design there from beats Jasmine Bartlett with the pass shot no good pizza come down with it meaning looking to double dangerous pass Anderson having to dribble out of trouble close to an over and back but beat will get it into the offensive zone and they'll run their offense and another mark there for a deflection for Laney I think that's ten my math is right yeah is that the correct ten zero ten zero. Understand if they get 40 they're playing a good game but the rotations see some of the people we've talked about this be one so many people focus on the crowd it's about the rotation that makes the press effect the break a base in 31. Now for Beats Jaclyn Anderson, guarded by Bonner Islands span. I run her off the back of the rim no good and it looks like they'll get another opportunity Anderson hits the jumper it's three but this time to shoot a three is an offensive scoring offensive rebound Kick it back out inside out basketball. Nice throw, Anderson. Have six of beaches nine margin is back to 312 nine jumper they're matched by Audriana Bonner. They took the two zone we talked about it she's a specialist and offense especially when it comes to shooting that three Express Anderson runner gets it now in some rhythm. John you talked about it earlier. Both teams trying to figure it out. Now the rhythm of the game is starting to pick up 15, 11 and you a minute to go and they're going to call steps and beats will have the opportunity to trim the lead from four. Yeah. Nice drive, Nice kiss, nice teardrop, soft rim, soft touch. Oh, Anderson with eight of Beach's 11 here in the first double team up high long runner off the rim It's going to go out of bounds They can't save it's going to go to lane with 39 and change probably not the shot you want it with 39 seconds left in the first quarter John. Better possession possibly threat to the four point lead. Alexis Harrison wearing 35 and for the final part of the first doubling into the corner, see what lane he can try to do alternate possession we're going to call jump and it's going to go the other way with 27 and change. Well, John is is not a secret to the madness. Lane has picked up their deflection as they picked up their defensive energy. As a result, they've cut into to the lead. Now it's a four point game transition creates numbers drive off the rim, No good missed opportunity by beach under 15 seconds. Now what's Laney going to do? Get two never five guys attacked off defensive glass off is a glass John you've got to have backcourt protection and that's burning beach and an opportunity to hold them off defensively. Another turnover wave off the basket. I think the foul is going to go on. Alexis Harrison on the Reach will be her first. Yeah. John you always got to protect the back court. I don't care what's happening. You know, when there's a turnover, that's something you've got to have a potential in the back court. This is a three on one out of control. Yeah, yeah. But you know, this one has been in attack mode and again, finish it off right here the first quarter and get a basket to close the quarter. And that was big a game that started out slow, picked up in the last couple of minutes and we're through with the first 8 minutes to decide the girls class eight championship Lucy Laney heading a bench beats out of Savannah up eight after the first 8 minutes on the great GPB. You would think that was points. No that's deflections a lady has 11 deflections beats has three as a result this eight point lead so shows your defense is the key to success. Laney started out one of ten from the floor. They hit five of their last seven beats hit two of their last nine after starting out hitting two of their first nine world class triple final here on GPB. After this, a lot of the boys you get to see to be Brown and Morgan County, you know, he put on a show last year didn't. Yes he did Jumper No. Good bye Laney Jacqueline Anderson trying to beat the pressure and you see right now it's 212 but it's full court and Laney causing problems. But if you beat it this is what happens blocked from behind great defense and Laney comes back with it Third block for Collier Jasmine Barton thought about the drive came back and it's going to be steps on the savings and you have to retreat on the on the Prince John was very effective there for a four lane he just you know the pass was thrown to the top but see she's under control. But that's the hustle. That's that senior leadership. John, we've talked about with Paul, call you the hustle, the senior leadership. She wants that championship ranked six turnover for Laney in the first half beats with half that number drive nice pass underneath and the two we see on the Washington with the bucket makes it 1913. Yeah whenever you get the ball inside an attack at the rim against the pressure's on take the high percentage shot Bonner in into Benjamin but it's blocked and they're going to call a foul and John watching Benjamin as a freshman she's very active and when you're active as a basketball player, the ball seems to find you. You don't go hunt the ball. It will find you. You just got to move. And she's detail. She's got something special mentally because she has the physical skills first free throws good foul on the break a bass 31 that's her first one each has seven fouls already was 650 for the first half Laney with only one foul so far Benjamin now has ten of ladies 21 and the pressure can give you one or two things a turnover, a foul this time. That was a foul. That's not a bad foul, John. See the thing is that the free throws have made baskets, especially with that ball. There's one, two, two, one, two, one, one. Press against missed shots. It goes back to a 2 to 1 for the person. But they changed it up. John foul only a collier her second just got it in to beat the five count each has numbers they can't take advantage of it alternate possession they're staying with beats just about a minute and a half gone in the second quarter. Laney leading beats by eight. The girls triple championship as other smart Lincolnshire's defense is set for the inbounds and they have been pesky. There've been a lot of times were beat on the offense has barely gotten it in at the 510 you see the hands there you got deflection and steal. I mean John has a secret to success. Look at the teams that have won this weekend. John, how close are have they not gone over the 40 point mark for deflections and steals? Defense wins championships? We've seen that a lot in the Pens about run out of ink for a lot of us, all the marks that you've been doing drive and the ball a foul Collier trying to get into the paint had to get through islands Spanish to break a basketball. See that call? Look at the hands Hands up There's a hands up That's it Active hands. The rotations there and there's the steal. You know, it wasn't a tight trap, John. It's just a nerve trap where we're going to pressure. We're going to contain her. She's on the side of the ball. She side of the bounce. So, you know, you've got almost four defenders around out of bounds. And the wingspan takes care of those gaps that you think you see that aren't really there. Exactly. You can't see and talk to your teammates. So, so many times people want to say chat, we'll take this, contain the trap, contain the ball, but your hands have to be active. The free throws missed on the second, but Laney will get a second chance off the miss into the paint. Nice pass and count in the shade Benjamin with two and she'll go to the line for the three point play. Yeah when you see the upside down I think there was a foul called or something wasn't it. They waved it off with a very quiet crowd. Giannis can make a nice basket like Anderson. Okay 2415 back comes Laney three pointer off the mark and he tries to save it They don't get back to beats Oh here is the beach bucket Anderson has been very aggressive and maybe a one person show tonight for beats She's got seven she's got more Let's talk about some more instead if have to do it by myself and I'll have to do it by myself. Nice shot, Anderson. Now, with ten of Beach's 18, they're down six high are for no good. And the whistle in the paint And you see what she's calling for it. When you call sport, your hands are hot, your hands are ready. Give it to her. Nice corner. Nice shot, Nice day. Jasmine Bartlett on the line. This is the first. Now watch the press. John, as I talked about it, they make it's going to be a point for a one person front. If they miss it, they may drop back to a 2 to 1. We'll see what happens here on the press. The rim this is the second beats comes down with it and they're working their way down the floor in transition quickly to on to drive off the glass to hard line will come back with it pass it's too much Bartlett was looking for a collier passes incomplete as Amaya Bowman in the game Jasmine Bartlett will sit 5 minutes to go first half Laney leading beats by six led by as many as nine or ten steps call beats. If you turn it over, I'll be their fifth. But Johnny Beach is right there, a six point lead. They're not getting rattled. So kudos to their mentality of not being rattled by the pressure that ladies bring in. And you see Anderson now looking at Benjamin, and they come down the floor to steal it, see if they can come back in transition to the numbers. Ball hit the floor, Anderson. Hit the floor. Let's hit. Harrison was on the floor, but Laney will come back the other way. One on two and a reaching island span. It'll be her third. We can talk about basketball, John. The first of all, before I go to my fault, I've got to give these officers great credit because these officers are facing a very clean game. You had the breakdown here. It led to the foul here on the back end, but it started with the ball, the loose ball action and officials allowing these teams to play loose. Spann thought she got the ball first. And Diamond Royal and Royal with two fouls. So this is something that all Gordon is going to have to keep an eye on. You see the assistants talking to Spann on the bench, free throws. Good. And it's 25 to 18 and a high. Kerry Anderson, the hot hand high air. Forgot it, man. She's putting on a clinic inside out attack in the France, attack in the zone. She may be small, but man, she has a lot of heart and a lot of character. It's almost to the point like an NBA jam when you hit all those consecutive buckets and you see the fire and smoke coming off the basket, Hey, man, she's doing pass inside. Nice one. Touch block from behind. Oh, man. Nice block, Nice defensive play. Diamond Royal with the SWAT Collins up going out of bounds. It looks like it'll stay with Laney but 354 for the first half beats down seven they are now down five and Jackie Anderson has been the hot hand. She is on fire keeping beats involved down five 354 for the first half from the Macon Coliseum on the great GPB. What is by moonlight an empty field is by the magic of electricity sacred ground. Macon Coliseum, Macon Cineplex 354 For the first half, Laney leading 2520 over beats Jacqueline Ingersoll with Beechwood 12 And I'm going to defer to Shawn Golden with this particular announcement. Silicon Valley gets all the love, but there are tons of exciting science and developments going right here in Georgia. The news show Scientific now gets the scoop on everything from start ups to Star Wars. My favorite movie, plus stories with national interest to Wednesday nights at 730 to get the News of the Future course right here on the great GPB. It's why Wednesday was Otis Smart. What's he saying now obviously his having his assistants talking over about how to stop Jackson Anderson Yeah yeah. When he gets up off the bench like he did a few minutes ago, man, you know, it means there's your support. Yeah, but, you know, his team's okay up by five points. But here's an interesting thought, John. Since the start of the second quarter, let's look at deflections Laney with six and beats with four. So there's a reason why Beech is now cutting into the lead because defensively, it starting to be a lot more active. And by the way that was Marquita Graham for Beats with the support and the haircut. So hey you're one of the players being true to your school. He is all in off the rim. No Jaclyn Anderson coming out with it for beats and see what they do to adjust to her defensively. And Brianna Bonner is guarding the now baseline jumper rim. No Anderson the rebound dribbling out of trouble way out for the three That's like an NBA three That was nowhere close. But Anderson three short got a half step back and she knew it. Yeah, she still got the hot hand John. She's got the green light to take advantage of the open opportunity to score the ball where there's a catch and shoot or drop. She'll make those shots throughout the course of the game. Coming up on 3 minutes to go. First half lane, he's had a seven point advantage and now it's back down to five. And of course, now those are the fouls. John as a coach, you just can't stand those ill advised fouls away from the basket. There's no penetration, no nothing. Just sometimes just not thinking during the course of the game. Alexis Harrison With the Foul, it'll be her second and Collier to the line. Yeah you put call get the line who's No she's in 100% from the chair of the strike zone. You do not want that you don't want a foul 11 of 16 from the free throw line in the game for Laney Beach has only been to the line twice, but they've made them both. And that's the big difference. Errant pass creates a turnover and see what Laney can do here can they take advantage a lot of empty real estate creates the easy to for a layup here Hey John that's like water through a barbed wire fence there John she just was straight down the gut for the easy layup deflected twice and out of bounds. But one thing I can tell you that Coach Smart said pick it up because when they come out of that timeout John, their energy divide, their focus, they picked up on the defensive end and his lead is nine coming up on two and a half to go first down off the rim. No action on the inside. Who's going to come up with it? Another opportunity for Laney, a third chance. The nominee Royal got her hands on the ball. It's knocked out of bounds that Landale inbound it game where Laney has a lot of fight you can see all five of their players being aggressive, attacking the offensive glass. Look at it just a lot of art love, love it, love it. You have to have that to win a championship. Laney had missed that last six shots on the floor. And so that, too, from Jamaal Bowman. Hey, 11 point lead time. We're going to talk about even more defense defense deflections. Here we go on the floor for the loose ball. This team has been very active. I like the recovery. Wow. This is awesome. Anderson. Along with the three that time and a block again by Dominique Royal. Aaron Davis will come in is royal being active down low Nice block Nice timing and a 32nd timeout called by ball coming Gordon he beats John I wonder when she was going to call a timeout move five say that is it's 11 point lead it was just down to a four point lead a few minutes ago and. The press is becoming effectively because you can see the fatigue factor maybe kick it in here within the last 2 minutes of the half. So here's beats his resume and our history professor Sam French talked a little bit about it in the open five straight region championships for beach coming out of region one their lone state championship in the GHC in the year 2000. They were in Final Fours in 2009 Beach trying to turn into the modern day warrior here in girls class triple A and Jasmine Anderson has a game means drop and she's got a nice stroke. John and she just get the shot off the beach would be okay but this lady pressure has been very effective, Anderson, coming out with it. Let's see what beach can do here. Tatiana morris, 13, Anderson calling for. She'll have possession here near side Alexis Harrison, way out, tying Moore hands in, double touch, Laney coming back the other way off the glass missed beats trying to control it Alexis Harrison will bring it up the floor as well under 90 seconds time Annie Hall thought about it. Morris tried to put something up out of bounds. Laney pass pass and heading back the other way off the glass hard off the glass and in. But only Collier gets the deuce. You have to get back on defense. It's not It's not a good defensive possession when you allow the offense to drop the entire length of the court and lay the ball up the to contain Collier with 11 Laney on an eight oh run shot off the rim. No we got a whistle the jump go ahead just under one minute and 13 point game now it could be 11 point game she can miss these and the lady can go up maybe 16 to 17. This last minute zone is critical for Venus to even cut into the lead for going to halftime with a heads down, try to get it under double digits. You think? Yes. The biggest thing for them, that's the biggest thing for them. Focus on that fell in on Brianna Bonner, her fourth Tatianna Morris is out. Jasmine Anderson with 12 of Beach's 20. She now has 13 and the lead is 12. Each comes out to press and you thought Laney would kind of hold on to it. Nice bank shot there. Olivia collier with another two. She's got 13. Yeah. John, I think she caught that big shot. Nice finish. Nice under control. She didn't call it. We hope when she watches the tape tell everyone she called. Of course she did. Anderson Driving Teardrop. No going the other way. I see. John, we talked about it. It's a 14 point lead. It was just 13 and is now as important. Don't want to go now 16 or 17 points down and you could a curtain to the league, maybe 11 maybe take a single digit lead going to have to a collier sits Jamaal Bowman and he's still pressuring coming up on 20 seconds more hands in the lane but Laney touching her fast walk crisp passing down a ten three pointer missed everything and beats will get it for one. Now what can you do here in 6 seconds? You just got to put your head down and go all the way to the rim. You can do it. You can do it. But again, that pressure job, that pressure is starting to wear down on beats. And, you know, halftime is coming at the right moment so they can go in there and recover and recuperate. Yeah. Brown had it well lost control out of bounds. Touchdown pass out of play beats one field goal in the last four and a half minutes. When you see the end result with who is 16 minutes Laney has a 14 point lead over beats and they're a half away from getting the girls triple A title and taking it back to Augusta and send it over to Sam Crenshaw with the coach here with Coach Otis Smart. First half, your team did a lot of great things. The hands you disrupted, a lot of things they wanted to do. Yes, we tried to now for the ball because the keyboard player had a number ten. I pick them to go in foul trouble a bit, sort of. We kept him at bay at that time. We still got a lot of ball live. You got to keep playing, you know, We could do it. All right. The up 3521. What are you going to tell your team at halftime? We got to continue to play hard. Don't give up. You can't relax. They're good to the 125 ballgames here. So we got to treat them just like they're a champions. You try to be comfortable. I know you are. Good luck to you, Coach. It's 3521 lady with the lead over beats. Now let's go to Mark and Grace. Sam, great job. Thank you very much. We've got six big games on tap today. We are at halftime of game three and right now Laney is leading beat by 14 points. We're going to check in with some tweeters and face burgers. And also we're going to send you the first half highlights in the middle of this Laney Beach battle and championship week here on the great Ship. I mean, I think that gives Laney a lot of momentum. It is, you know, Laney has never won a championship beats one one back in 2000. So Laney really is geared this year to win a state title. Nothing like the first time. That's right. All right now I know you hoops fans at home are all into this one. So let's hear what they have to say. Mark, let's talk about the social media. There was a sea of people wanting to get out. It was a terrible dilemma. Who goes and who gets left behind? They looked at the had a captors and it could see their cries desperate. See Senator blocks getting ready for the second half of the girls trip championship Laney up by 14. Sam Crenshaw with Anthony Gordon. Yes I'm coach Gordon. Just about what you told your team in the halftime in the locker room for the second half. We saw we just had to pick up the pace. Oh, Laney is outscoring us. They're more aggressive. We have to match the aggressiveness to get back in this game. They're not doing anything special. We're playing defense, so we're going to have to pick up our pace and get back in this game. All right. Looking for that in the second half. Good luck to you. Thank you. All right. That's Coach Gordon. They're ready to go. Thank you very much, Sam. Let's take a look at what happened here in the second half. Sean's checking his notes to figure out what all of the all the tick marks were. Here's your stats, courtesy of West Georgia Technical College. And Farm Bureau. Georgia. What sticks out there? Laney is leading in every category, John. But the one that really sticks out to me is fouls. You got Laney with three beats with 11. What that shows me is we talk about playing hard, playing smart, playing together. That middle one Smart lane is being smart defensively. They're not committing so many fouls, so they allowed to go in transition and score those easy baskets. So that's one of things we talked about at the key beats has to come out. John Matched intensity matched the energy of Laney. Now you look at fouls it's 11 three the free throw just it's a disparate number but Jacqueline Anderson has kept Beech around Yeah coach costumes talk about this all the time. Whenever you shoot more free throws than your opponent's attempt, you have a higher percentage of winning that game. And that's exactly what's happening right now. Laney is out shooting 11 for 16 and Beecher three for four. So these guys will be more aggressive. I think the press is actually confused with them a little bit, John. They have to attack. Don't settle for the outside. Jump shot, jump shot, get to the rim. Beach was one of their last seven from the floor. Laney hit their last three and they went on a ten one run through the last three plus minutes of the first half to get the margin to 14. As we start the second half here, a girls triple AA final can Laney get that first GHC championship 14 times semifinalist before today, two finals appearances Beach won in 2000. So it's Augusta and Savannah, two storied programs dating back to their days in the Gea and the jumpers. Good at two two to start things off for Laney. Hey Benjamin out showing why she's considered one of the top freshmen in the state. John is hitting a nice elbow jump, shot softly within the zone, saved but saved to the other color jersey. And once again, hands create another turnover. High runner off the glass. No second chance each wanted it didn't get it past behind. Looks like he's going to have to come back out to start the offense Hot hand off the rim no good for Benjamin Once again there's hands all over the place trying to keep beach from passing the basketball. Jacqueline Anderson double team from behind. Pass it off the glass. No good Anderson with the rebound and she'll bring it back out Reach double teaming high jumper but that was deflected on the way up lane he's got numbers in transition Bonner breaking down and Jaclyn Anderson gets the rebound I think Bonner was looking a little over her shoulder on that particular opportunity others to watch Jones save Anderson gets it back blocked. We've got a lot of action in the middle third here, a lot of hands and a lot of tick marks on your sheet. The runner is up. And in Rylan Spann, finally, somebody who scored a basket. And we have some basketball to be more of a controlled. But there was an array going back and forth, John, for about 30 or 40 seconds. And you can see fatigue within both teams and a lot more officials for the game, Curtis Pierce, John Woods and Ornella Wilder. And here's how Beech ended up cutting the margin to 14. He missed runner with the right hand. That's something to pay attention to with Aislin Span. She's got three fouls in foul trouble for Beech. You got a couple with two and the kick will send it out of bounds and keep it here. But Island span has three something to pay attention to. While both of these teams go eight nine deep on their benches. Well Allen span is the one that lays the hand on the basketball and you know they're going to need her in the game, John, because she picks up the fourth foul that pressure is going to pick up that keeps is going to get a lot more hard eight and a half points a game three assists first team all region more hands in the passing lane. Let's see what happens here. Jasmine Bartlett was short and follows on the charge drawn by span. Well, she was very lucky, very fortunate. She was kind of hit right underneath the basket, John. And that's kind of a no man's land to pick up a blocking chance. She got there, thought she was a little too deep. But sometimes you take it with harvest, giving it to the margins. 14 five 4514 turnover for beats pass through the hands walking a little too quickly. Jasmine Anderson big numbers for beats coming down the floor three on one pass easy to it Yeah we talked about it and we're going to take the first one and get over to the rim. You're doing the right thing and a quick turnover, more hands creating more turnovers. There today Isaiah Hills with the last basket and going to the line will be a break. A bass nice three on one nice pass off to avoid a challenge Collins and Maya Bowman her first and huge free throw disparity in the first half off the front of the rim. No good coming in throwing Jasmine Holman six to presence in the paint. Well Brianna Bonner will sit one that's a59 freshman second free throw a lot of thought it goes in the margin back to 12 beats pressing and all the way down the middle again this lady in a Leah Collier she missed and she couldn't touch it because she was out of bounds, didn't get any help from teammates. So it's a turnover, you know, John, here's a thought. I think both teams came out with less than a minute to really go to half, half the halftime court. And as a result, basketball is kind of sloppy right now. It's just not clean. I think it's going to take a little time for it to all come off. And so a beautiful face. BLOCK to the inside, Second chance thrown up, no good turnover coming back. The other way to say Benjamin Franklin, Anderson, trying to get her hands in there to create another turnover. But Elliott Collier will have it out high long jumper from the corner was too long too beach players are there for it. Bomani Royal had it. Allen Spann has it now near corner picking out high cross Jacqueline Anderson thought about the three head fake runner right hand no but she'll get the rebound off the scrum. And now, speaking of scrums, four different players have touched the dolphin. The possession stays with beats. One, it's an immediate thumbs up. And within 24 seconds, look for both teams to come out with a different mindset out of that media timeout. Because again, the game's just not being playing smooth right now. But Anderson better than shoot three time can definitely help with the game being a lot more under control. Another three pointer, that's her fourth three of the game. Jacqueline Anderson now has 16. The ball is out of bounds off of Jasmine Harman and the three by Jaclyn Anderson has cut the lead to eight. Otis Smart's got some work to do for Laney. He's up eight. The beaches on the comeback trail, four of nine to go in the third Laney, up eight on GPB. This moment getting here took three years of sleepless nights and postponed vacations. Your dad said play it safe. Your husband kept the faith. But franchising is why you partnered with Regions in the first place. We share your vision for moving forward and at moments like this, that makes all the difference. Is your business at a turning point? Regions. I see him making Center Black Slaney up eight and we've talked about how Laney has been a 14 time semifinalist and before today they were in the final two other occasions. So let's go back to the last time that they were in the finals. It was two years ago here at the Macon Coliseum, and they ran into the buzzsaw, which is Wesleyan. And what you've noticed about Wesleyan over the years and you talked about it in their championship game, you'll see the same things over and over again. It's just different people doing it. Yeah, that's a one. But we're talking about John Active Deflections. It was there and it's still here as a result. They want a championship this year. But this lady team, I think they've learned from that gleaned that team of Wesley and they've implemented that same style of play to a higher level. Deflections, steals, rotation, energy, passion. Let's win on the court. Let's be the team that's more aggressive and stuff, the team that's more passive. Lance 209 Beech has outscored Laney eight oh Here in the third, Beech has three field goals made on ten attempts. Laney is one of five here in the third quarter and energy turnovers. Laney leading 1614. That's not necessarily a category you want to be the lead in. What are your tech mark saying so far? Have you done the math? How far are we on your tic margin hands in the lane? Well, Lane is doing a good job continuously, John. I think they've got an early lead. They're up there. Take the beaches now. Storm in here, start in the second half, John. They've actually put it up to now 26 deflections. So deflections are helping us get back into the game. Yeah, I would have needed your help there in a second because you would have had to gone for that loose ball if it went out of bounds in all those hands. You can hear the block all the way from over here. And the thing is, last touched by beach and there's the work underneath and the block. So it was last touch by beach, out of bounds. Another turnover for Lane. Well it's an opportunity for beach I think got to start a thing so back up free thrills and turnovers free throws and turnovers because the team that Ashley is going to cut down on the turnovers and possess the ball is going to be the team that wins this one that gets to the free throw line, capitalizing open shot. And right now he's doing a good job of being pace with the ball zone and they've gotten three consecutive threes because they've been patient on offense. Islands span with the three and the margin is five and another turnover John to go back to my teams, we talked about one of the keys with Laney. You got to be patient and patience is the key for beach right now success be patient, get inside out drain down the big three Jacqueline Anderson was hot early islands span knocked down the three there it's the fifth that beach has in the ballgame Last 308 beaches on an 1101 and see the two headed monster here John for four beaches. First of all, you've got Anderson, now the intention focused on her that game and a chance to get from her opened up And now Spain is the one that's kind of being the effective person offensively for the Beach Bulldogs. So Coach Smart had to call a quick throw just to kind of talk things over both teams. If one of the neon blue marks at the bottom of the screen gone, he took four timeouts, left 309 and counting. Third quarter Beach has had a big mountain to climb and they are climbing it right in the middle, shot off the back of the rim. No good one and done for the Lady Bulldogs. Laney will come back with it driving into the paint off the glass no touch and going the other way. So one thing that stands out with Laney now, we talked about it. They can't put pressure on themselves just because they beat the fast, they beat the press. They're trying to force it and make the shot happens. They're bringing it out. Very good offense. Runner off the back of the rim. No good second chance blocked up high and they're going to call a foul Jasmine Holman will get called for it and it's her first third quarter turnovers so far and you talk about that's a category that you don't want to lead in ninth three in the turnover margin Lane said nine turnovers committed here in the third quarter and that's created a lot of opportunities for Duke. Yeah, that's 18 points, John, that Laney has lost because not being able to take care of the ball beaches come back and capitalize. They hit in threes, they hit more free throws and they've cut down on their turnovers to break a base. Second free throw short if you kind of see it when she put it up there. But once again, hands trying to get the ball back out for the miss. Those two drive contested shot that comes Jacqueline Anderson for beach two on two and she'll pull it out span thought about the three baseline hands contested once more Anderson will save span short but rebound a third chance and once again a foul on Laney on the inside looks like this time it's going to go on to Shae Benjamin but nobody staying home from Laney John they're all over the place even though they've got the press in the full court, half court, they need to be in their positions being their stations. They're still pressing and scrapping and because of that, they're not getting the rebounds and not securing the ball and limiting beach to a second chance shots pass back to the free throw line. There it is. That's the layup I think she was looking for earlier. Jasmine Bartlett checking in, Jamila Bowman checking out second free throw for the freshman is good beats on a 1301 2 minutes to go third quarter hands in deflections again double team up high long three rim presence inside holding hands again hands again Laney had it lost it got it back in a whistle and just go ahead the energy is good from length but with the three point lead you go you almost lose ten points in your lead. And right now just beach is matching the intensity and Lane is creating a lot of turnovers. Lane has got to be more under control, be more effective and be smoother in the half court. Foul on the break a bass that's her third and will pay attention to that as we go for free film this second missed as well but presence on the inside gets the rebound rim no note Third chance or is there a third chance Great save on the floor bodies but they get the time out all they did and Laney calls a full body just sacrificed her body time there to save the ball from going out of bounds. That's the hustle you have to have. And she was smart enough to call the timeout to keep possession of the ball. Now big come out of this timeout John if you're languid you've got to do a better job and they've got to talk about guys. You don't need bad shots. Bad shots equivalent to turnovers. Let's be more patient with the ball, patient with the ball being turned off hand. Keep doing what you're doing, stay scrappy, be motivated, stay scrappy. Wiggins delivers great and you got a chance to attack attacking for similar failures and get to the free throw line here Every coach smart man of few words leaves most of the coaching to his assistants, but when he hops in the huddle, it's like E.F. Hutton everybody's going to be paying attention. When he talks, everybody better listen. Second Chance points now Beach at plus two long jumper remain the rebound backed up five feet and another hand in the passing lane creates another opportunity for the two coming back for Jasmine Barkley more hands in the lane Adrian up on her for the deuce for John that's right You've got to step back to lead and build it more defense right off the defense. Good rotation. Good. Still good finish It was three now at seven beach out of control Bonner all by herself just like that on defense and then of course beats the ball it's gone and it's going to end with John all of them Gordon calls the fall and like that. It went from 3 to 9. Hey, boss board, run! You got to have somebody to protect the backcourt. So many people are focusing on the beach offensive rebound, offensive rebound, but a missed shot. Nobody is there to take the back court lane. It is a great job with the outlet. Fantastic finish there for Bonner. So Noland is doing what they need to do. John started with their defense, but it's got to end with their defense, they have a lull. Hopefully this momentum will help them get to the third quarter. We saw Coach Smart talking to the Shape Benjamin on the bench. A lot of support here for Lucy Laney high from Augusta as they chase after that first GHC title and Laney to get to this nine point advantage three field goals in a 42nd span before that when beech climb the mountain, two field goals in a quarter plus two and a half minutes. Yeah, he knows the basketball game is first on this. The game was Kirk's and you know Kevin's doing a great job of getting those that information to Kevin Barnes in the math keeping this day without him man we would be lost. Kevin is awesome. We really appreciate it. But you're right. Exactly right, John. That information is important because, you know, it's critical right now for beats to score in this possession, John, to start the quarter with some confidence. And we were saying that they needed something to get it to under ten to start the second half. It wasn't there. They cut it to three back to nine. And Tatianna Morris was wide open under the paint and fouls on Bartlett. And that's the second for Jasmine. Now, first free throw off the side. There's the alarm coaching your alma mater in the semi. Gordon graduated 90 beats got the title in 2000 taking over from legend Ronald Booker and that cut the margin to eight getting the second free throw as we're coming up on 30 seconds left for the third time big possessions for Laney. How are they going to handle the press and what are they going to do? They're going to win the clock down. They're going to try to get a quick shot span, remember, as three fouls, 11 and white islands span with three. If she gets a little too dangerous with those hands, it could pick up a fourth and create some problems for beats in the final 8 minutes. But it doesn't go fouls on Diamond Royal and that's her third. So you've got ten Diamond Royal with 311 islands span with 331. You break a bass with three. Something to keep an eye on for foul trouble here. As we get to the fourth quarter in four beaches. Aaron Davis is diamond he royal will sit and Leah Collier while she's got a double double right now has missed her last three free throws makes the second one go back to nine Lane is still extending that pressure it's on as a trap three on the back got it in the back Yeah and that's that's good basketball from Laney You know you get the trap you got a security you've got to retreat and get back great back there by Benjamin 10.1. Let's see what they do Another hand in a passing lane Laney comes up with the turnover. It's two on two. And once again, deflections, opportunities, Deflections again. Looks like we're going to call a foul. Is it on bass? That's for the break. A bass for beach at 3/10 for the third and that'll do it for 324 minutes in the books Beach had it to a three point Laney lead. Laney scores three buckets in 40 seconds and we will find out who the girls class triple AA champion is when we come back to the Macon coliseum lining up nine, heading to the fourth on GPP. Hey, John, my song is going to be for the fourth quarter free throws and turnout was free throws and turnovers and I understand late game execution start. The fourth quarter is important. You got to understand free throws and turnovers because if you win that battle, John, you win the war. DJ Goldie with the new hit free throws and turnovers as we get to the fourth Laney up nine chasing that first GHC title, Jasmine Anderson hands in the passing lane, doubled in the corner, has to loop it all the way out almost another turnover off a dangerous pass and the two works that time for islands man well you know landing came out John didn't one of the two they turned the ball over which gave beach a chance get to the heart of the defense with a nice touch nice finish back down to seven and see what beach does defensively here. You can tell he's trying to melt the clock just a little bit. They've got a high post offense, John, but you don't have to force it. You don't have to rush it. Let the defense make a mistake. That way you can capitalize in a positive way. And in a span of around a Bonner is close enough to her picking up her fourth foul jumper off the rim. No second chance points almost off the rim, doesn't quite go to Alicia Collier Sam French shot. What do you know at the end of the quarter win over this Selma coach Otis Smart what he told his team and told them to play intelligent play hard. This is the fourth quarter really going back to fundamentals come out and meet the pass box out. Just the fundamental things you try to hang on to get this championship and see if they pay attention as we go here. The fourth on a royal ten foot bench picks up her fourth foul. So you have span with three Dominique Royal with four in to break a basket for which the foul trouble for beech Maya Bowman in for Laney Jasmine Holman will sit second three point good the college she now has 16 and let's see what beats does Allen Spann double teamed up high and another hand on the basketball creates a turnover bringing it back the other way into the frontcourt very crisp passing but rarely hitting the floor from their defensive half of the offensive half. And Benjamin just got stolen right out of her own hands. Tatianna Morris misses off the back of the rim and Morris and Jaclyn Anderson both chasing after the rebound. It goes out of bounds and back the lane within time to score. John is very effective, very important this time. And Benjamin being the first one, she's got to think a little bit. What's more, she's on the court and still going for for a reason because of her ability to play the game. But now add the other mental aspect to it. Be smarter with the decision making, especially here in the fourth quarter. Jaclyn Anderson tried to go for the reaching, but they're going to call it on Tatianna Morris. It'll be her first long pass to the inside and looks like that one's going to be on Aislin span or they're going to call it on today's Hill Hills, call it 30 instead of ten. And, John, the thing is, both teams got to understand, especially Laney, there's no shot clock right there. I think these girls are taking too quick of a shot instead of allowing a little time to go off while the offense possession be patient on offense that the defense make mistakes and they capitalize on it. But Laney I think right now is going to aggressively they're still in attack mode when now they still need to attack but then the time is your friend let the clock run today Isaiah Hills and Tatianna Morris out for beech and to break a bass is in as is Louisiana Washington. They couldn't handle the ball out of bounds so Laney will get it again dangerous over and back almost had that right heel on the half court run but it's her under two gone here in the fourth That was a good offensive possession John they got the ball in from the side out of bounds make the defense commit unnecessary foul of leave that's four fouls on span okay exactly right. So you know that's something we need to watch because what's what's happening defensively Laney John is putting up full court denial on innocent almost a full court box one. So without spraying which is the other handler which going to be in a little trouble against the lady press Tyler with that free throw 12 of 16 in the game. So here's the deal now, John not letting Anderson get ball, forcing everyone else to play on those three on two or three on three bass with Bounce pass was shown in Washington wanted it up high goes out of bounds another beats turnover in the game Tatianna Morris after a quick break and channel Washington will sit Collier looking to inbound going for the touchdown pass intercepted by bass and she'll come down with it for beach and where does the foul go Does it go to Bowman. Yes it does and that's her second and John turnovers not the best decision that could have been made trying to for a full court pass against that four foot question fifth block for Aliyah Collier. Jaclyn Anderson tried to go up for the two and the foul brings it back the other way for one and one. There's your number right there, Laney, a plus six Collier to the line foul on Tatianna Morris that's her second front end is good And John you saw coach Smart talking to Benjamin there that's the star player and he doesn't he wants her to stay in the game but it doesn't hurt to make ill advised mistakes. You don't need to force the tempo, just play the game, run the clock and they get it done and they will call you Now with 20 and 17 averages 16 and ten and a half in front, there was a foul. They were trying to speed it up. Court I see the pressure was good. John Now I've seen what Laney is doing. Laney She's trying to standing. She's got to step out of bounds, teach important player at home, step out of bounds. You can cut off the offense. You can step out of bounds. It's legal for the defense to do that. Second foul on Benjamin on the drive Morris to the line and gets the roll Tatianna Morris two for three from the line in the game now she's three for four let's see Lindy's press offense John this is critical right here. This is a critical position possession for Laney. There's the end result foul. We're going the other way and see Benjamin she broke the press very effectively, very easily, but she didn't have to make that play. That's still a freshman on the floor. And coach is really trying to help her understand. You don't have to make that play every time you get the ball. You do not have to make a play. Slow down, bring it out. Understand? Time is scored with 520 left in the game. Thomas scores important foul on Aubrey on a banner that's her second and that is smart looking at the clock 520 to go first free throw missed on the fun into the one and one but beats gets the rebound Anderson double team but that leaves somebody open to span her second three She's got eight and the margins back to single numbers at 5142 high shot off the glass No second chance for work but to my opponent and John, you take those two points and again Lane is just not being smart offensively. They're still trying to attack mode instead of being in protective mode. And now they're giving up the foul and a chance to score with the clock to stop that even if you're beach John in this situation here, the best time to score is when the clock is stopped. You don't want to score as much when the clock is moving, it's good to score when the clock is stopped and it's the foul. Third on Bowman Free throw, no good shooting two since it was in the act time any royal with two and six and an assist second free flowing no good but once again battle on the inside. It's going to stay with beats and jump beats is still five. They've got a lot of fighting down this 11 point lead with 445 to go. It has a lot of basketball still to be played. Defensive instructions coming from coach smart royal looking for someone to pass it to and she found Toxie on and off the suit. Now, how effective we're going to be versus this press and how spectacular with be here late game execution. Lot of hands in Benjamin's face Jasmine Bartlett with it and should pull it out at will Collier high hands in the passing lane again Morris had the deflection but it went back deflected again in the paint Anderson almost had the steal Royal has it she needs some help and gets it in Jaclyn Anderson coming up on the halfway point of the fourth three on two if they want it from the corner and see the fourth quarter pressure zone has really been effective for a piece like this lady and is not taking care of the ball they tied to get too quick. They're trying to be so aggressive offensively, John, that the mistakes are actually coming. Waves span square fired hit her third three of the game she's got 11 355 hot hand short bass wind down third chance no ladies got it out of control but the bunny goes sometimes on the court the ball falls in the right place and the right step in the right place at the right time. For Laney, it's critical for that easy to foul on Collier. Her third, she went for the basket ball with Jaclyn Anderson Lane He's got ten fouls so Jacqueline Anderson little line for two and today with Jaclyn Anderson she's got six and seven still there You cannot have a case of Harris getting back Harris COVID Kevin fear Friday the 13th it's Harris get back at the intro Trypophobia Let me go back to deck Katrina phobia. Paris give Beckett Paris give it DECA Trypophobia Fear Friday the 13th there. I got it out on the ninth. Try Here's your lady Wildcats Reds straight region titles Throw to Smart seventh straight Final four They've had 14 semifinals appearances. We showed you the championship game against Wesleyan in 2013. A little earlier there's your region three standings ran the table and just above Waco Josey Butler, Glen Hills and West Side. Strong work for Laney this year and Zion These girls some someone has to come up with here for Laney to come in with one down on the court. I know the coaches are talking about it, but someone on the floor has to actually embrace that leadership to understand girls, we've got a chance to win the state championship. We've got an eight point lead. We have to protect the basketball. We have to think about the worst case scenario. We have to make better decisions on the court. If we do not beats is confidence is definitely growing and growing and growing. We don't want to put ourselves in a position to be down here close towards the latter part of this game. Two neon markers at the bottom of the screen left for beats three for Laney. Now two timeouts remaining when he's got ten fouls, Beach has eight second free throw now for Jacquelyn Anderson. Got it Margin seven Benjamin coming up the floor guarded by Bass Dangerous proposition because 31 White has four fouls and see the spread offense Yeah John that's fine the clock is your friend you don't have to rush You can take your time. Just be strong. With the basketball close to a five second call there high asking shot with go jasmine bark but hey John she prayed when she made that spin move for the jump shot because she didn't see the rim. But sometimes that three episodes on ends up in the positive way. That's what Laney needed to go back back up nine 3 minutes to go regulation and they're answering their islands span off the window. Hey, this is the tempo that beats wants to be able to get back in this game. Laney has to continue to keep using the clock and that's the fifth on island Span. And John, that's not the person you wanted to foul me. Should have done substitution, offensive and defensive but she's a second ball handler on that team and she's the best three point shooter that that team has on the floor. So now look for Lady John to extend that pressure and deny Anderson the basketball. Alexis Harrison, 35, comes in the five four senior to replace Spann, raining eight of nine so far in the quarter from the charity stripe beach. Three for six John free throws, a rebound free throws, turnovers, free throws and turnovers. Lane is capitalizing and hitting their free throws now trying to solidify this weird today miss the second body bodies hit the and it's going the other way to 45 did no call by the official the contact there wasn't bad contact while out of bounds let's keep going hands in the passing lane they've got the numbers and they're going to call something they're Azalea Collier went and it's like she tried to do your Eurostep with the stomp and the turn, but they're going to call Alexis Harrison for the foul and that's her third. Yeah, I love the free throw line. The clock Everything is looking like Laney has a chance to sit through this thing, but they've got to control their own destiny. John Collier seven for seven from the line this quarter. 21 in the game. And John, she's had some games this year. She's gone 15 for 15 from the charity stripe. So she gets to the rim but she gets to the offensive line a rebound and she gets to the free throw line. Quite often in every game they play 22 and 17 and margin back the ten coming up on two and a half to go regulation, Anderson Domini Royal to break a basket Harrison thought about it hands in the lane again Harrison went for the save but it went out of bounds and it's going to go to lane as he sometimes. John you've got to be smart defense and especially the hustle plays late game lane it was fortunate lucky they didn't call the foul another turnover coming back Harrison thought about the three bounce in the bass free throw line jumper No margins ten as we come up to 2 minutes Jasmine Bartlett bringing it up the fourth going by Brown A Bonner Elliott Collier up high guarded by Jackson and a super drive into the paint dish for the two zero man game. I think the momentum now is clearly in Davis control Great finish great drive by Collier to find a teammate for the easy to to break a bass looking to drive on knocked out of bounds Here's the last bucket and see we're not trying to hold the ball John in four corners is you try to spread the defense the defense make a mistake and then when the seams open up, you take advantage of what's given to you in free pass in the paint, missed the bunny, follow up, knocked out of bounds. It'll stay with beats Dominique Royal was open missed the easy shot underneath a lot of contested hands. You see five bodies and a swat coming back the other way Hands in the pass away and the foul. Hey, John, you know that talent is the same thing that we've talked about all day long. Deflections, deflections, deflections. And now that deflects your pins out of it. I'm done, John. I mean, they actually surpassed 40 alone pass just being aggressive Big three out there on the court and that's going doing a great job of pursuing the basketball getting a three point play Laney on a tekno run every time Beachwood get it close lane He puts the pedal down defensively, clamps down, puts hands in the passing lanes, and all of a sudden it's back to 15 with 90 seconds to go long three and got oh wow, she shot he shot that one from Mississippi I believe 2 to 4 back to 12 with 80 seconds here. She's going to have to have a lot of hands. There's one of them. Let's see what happens There. Timeout called for by Otis Smart after that three went so here's Anderson spin to get it into the offensive zone and I think she hit this one from Greenville Oh she was in south Catholic 11 lady everybody with him in choosing your front yard. She was Taylor South Carolina shooting that shot their man that was deep. But in going into calling it timeout I thought it was a great time out there by coach and Coach Smart. He's smart because the first thing he showed his team was look at the clock. Time is a minute and 15 seconds time left in this game. Look the clock don't be focused on scoring focus on getting that clock down to zero three by Anderson for fifth on the day got 22 lead being look at free throws here in the fourth quarter and how desperate that margin has been the entire time. Blaney has been to the line 13 times in the quarter feeds five free throws made waning plus 911 to 275 seconds between a 12 point lead and Laney getting her first ever GHC title and through the hands of Benjamin. But Laney ends up with it. Spellman looking for help, calls time and that's smart basketball now that's smart basketball. It wasn't a force heading to the rim, John Trying to do something out of character. Out of character that was a great, smart basketball player, late game execution. It's been a busy day and day three of Make and madness. And we had a twofer. Saint Francis wins. Both the girls, the boys in class, single-A private, a last second turnover and basket gives Saint Francis the win over Southwest Atlanta Christian 4045. And then Saint Francis boys put the pedal down to beat Green Forest Christian. Those two squads have won the last two titles and win by 15. Right now it's a point game. After this one, it's $0.02 Brown and Morgan County going up against Jenkins. And then after that it's the six eight games Norcross and McEachern in the girls and Wheeler chasing after a championship for the boys. Boys at full back. They have good basketball here. Rock hands. Good idea. Collier Hill Senior Leadership Man. I'm also here playing time since making the right decision at the right time. Long launch three. No. Call you with the board. She now has 24 and a foul on Tatianna Morris out will be her third with 44 one and right now it's looking like the class triple AA title will be heading back to Augusta. John at six this Crowd right behind as a see a red man and now I got to give a special thanks and talking to the group from ladies radio station Mister talk Radio Big Mac Daddy you said he works with Sam and Sam and Missy derailed Louis. Those two guys, they were really giving me some strong insight regarding this team. They talk about they didn't respect this team to be here. They thought their boys team should have been the one to get here to put down next to give their side the big crowd. You know what? This young team has a chance to be special in the long run. 15 point margin underneath for the two thought about it with ten off the rim and another foul, 31 plus they were looking for the cherry on top of the cupcake for that 1000 to break the fast that's her fifth She'll lead with three points 31.1 you know just like that depends on the bakery. I know. How about I heart? What do you like? I'll do? I'm a scout. Covert spoke covered the scout. But that's not my idea. That's all I have is they had hash browns. What they did, that's. That's Waffle House, Right? There you go. It's grilled cheese, wheat on two triple or hash browns plane. Kevin Barnes likes his scattered coverage. And now Russ Aaron, the producer, the conductor back in the truck, you made him hungry. I hope You're happy. Hey, I'm hungry, too, man. I'm going to take advantage of a nice meal in here after this game. First free throw up the in and John. Lady, lady. What we talked about John. Free throws and turnovers. They hit the free throw turnover they cut down on their turnovers. John That's what we're talking about and they stuck to the game plan. The free throw rimmed out margin is 16. They get the rebound they're looking for. Benjamin on inside. She was the last to touch it. So it's going to go to beat the 23 and change Jaclyn Anderson racing down the floor trying to get points on the board with the runner off the side of the backboard. They're going to call a foul on 18 and change. Anderson has done a good job of handling that pressure job. But you know what's hard when you're fighting a team like lady, it's hard to do it by yourself and not playing ball. That's her third. Jaclyn Anderson now has 21. It's all I'm looking here at my notes talking about no beats to make shots and eating to match the energy of Laney Laney, you know, their first show in the team's history. And you know, the pressure that was they felt from the the Augusta area. But then things play a hard job. And there's a great game for us for you to talk about. And also the one Otis Smart emptying his bench. Jessica Williams is in LA was set. Keller is in 30. John Whitehead, 15, is in the bijou. McBride, five is in double team in the corner and leave a set. Tell her that it's going to come out. John Whitehead's called for traveling coach Gordon. Stick it to her, guys. We're going to press it. You're going to play it hard till the end. Well, look at me. Gordon has a lot to be proud of. Long three Attempt No Good by Jacqueline Anderson taking over the program a couple of years ago, Beats has had a tremendous run to get to this point, taking over for the legend. Ronald Booker, 35 years old. Gordon played varsity seasons under Booker, graduated 99 Beach, got their title in 2000 for second year, taking over for Booker. So Beach has a lot to be proud of, but Laney gets the first ever GHC title, a 15 five run in the last 3 minutes, and the Lady Wildcat take the triple title back to Augusta. It seemed that every time Beach would get close, Laney would plant down defensively. Lee Yeah, and then distance themselves and they kept distracting themselves. And it ends up a 15 point win for the Lady Wildcats. Otis Smart and the Lucy Laney community as they get that triple championship. And John you know Coach Smart and listen to this man I'm so happy for you because he's been here so many times and this is something that he's is cherished because he's a strong staple in that community. And the lady you've got a winner in him. He's like a father to this team, to that community. Those kids are just very excited. This community is going to lift them up and embrace them for quite some time there in that community. The trophy presentation is next. Mark Harmon gets to hand that man the class triple AA trophy, Laney and beats rivals in the gym. The Lady Wildcats get to take the triple AA title home. The presentation when we come back.
