(subtle upbeat music) - I'm Starla Sampaco in the Crosscut KCTS 9 Newsroom. A Crosscut investigation found at least 183 police officers flagged for issues like dishonesty, bias and excessive force remain in law enforcement in Washington State. Last summer, Crosscut went to every county prosecutor's office in Washington State, asking for Brady lists. These are lists of police officers whose past actions could call their credibility into question when they are asked to testify in court. About half the officers Crosscut identified were flagged by prosecutors because of some form of deception. Such as lying to coworkers, submitting false reports or lying during internal investigations. Others were placed on a so-called Brady list because of incidents of bias. Such as posting racist remarks on social media or making discriminatory comments towards suspects, and a few were there because of excessive or questionable use of force. I'm Starla Sampaco.
