Washington State won't be pulling out of the Electronic Registration Information Center, but the effects might still be felt here.
Since 2012, several states, Washington included, formed a nonprofit to clean voter rolls and improve voter registration accuracy nationwide.
Currently, the valuable system gives participating states the ability to share and match voter data in an effort to eliminate fraud.
Election deniers continue to lash out against the voting system and election integrity after former President Donald Trump's repeated false claims that he won the 2020 race.
Several states have announced their plans to no longer work with the program.
Washington State Secretary Steve Hobbs and others worry keeping voter lists current and avoiding fraud will become harder if more states refuse to share and analyze voter rolls.
